2023 Roma, Italy
LOCATION: Roma
AREA: 90 sq. m.
TYPE: Realized project

When moving to live in a new house, the fear of the upheaval of spaces, of new habits, as well as the aesthetic aspect of the domestic environment transformed by a renovation, creates a rift in the user as if finds himself between two worlds, past and future, between what has been experienced up to that moment made up of memories and the desire for a new way of experiencing the apartment. This upheaval, however, does not always require a complete elimination of the lived reality of living, but can include some vintage elements in the new layout of the spaces that dialogue harmoniously with the planned renovation. This 90 m2 apartment located in Rome was designed with minimalist rigor, obtained from a division of spaces that revolves around a large open space characterized by a portal that acts as an equipped wall, made of plasterboard between the living room and the kitchen, but which has a retro touch given by a warm and welcoming vintage corner where the owner’s antique stereo stands out, to be appreciated thanks to comfortable woven leather seats. Characteristic of the apartment are the kitchen made in shades of navy blue and the bathrooms with floral decorations, also with a retro texture. Living between two worlds can be a pleasant sensation, as long as you welcome the new in the awareness that the old has had its day and let it coexist harmoniously in domestic spaces without creating a historical falsehood.
